Sony doesn’t offer as many LCD sets as, say, Samsung – the world’s largest TV maker – but there’s still a smattering of LCD TVs here to get your eyes on, with the cheapest (X70) starting at just £599 for the 43-inch model.
The XH81 and XH80 are the more notable sets here, complete with Google Assistant / Alexa compatibility and a souped-up 4K HDR Processor X1. They don't quite have the processing chops of Sony’s higher-end OLED TVs, but still offer 4K resolution and support for the dynamic Dolby Vision HDR format. There’s support for Dolby Atmos audio, too.

These sets both come with the Google Play Store and Chromecast built-in as well, meaning you’ll have a range of streaming apps from Netflix to Disney Plus – though not Amazon Prime Video, sadly.

The top-ranging XH95 ranges from £1199 for the 49in and £3999 for the 85in, although the 55in, 65in and 75in that they sandwich are without prices yet. They boast many features of the higher-ranging Sony 2020 OLEDs, including Full Array LED panels, the company's flagship picture processor, a newly developed sound system and support for Netflix Calibrated, IMAX Enhanced, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. There’s Android TV with built-in Chromecast, too.
Sony X800H, XH80, XH81
Sony has debuted new mid-range 4K TVs, with 2020 high-end 8K and 4K LCD TVs as well as 4K OLED TVs planned for release later this year.

The two new 8 series models, XH80 (X800H in the US) and XH81 (Europe only), are technically identical but the design differs. XH80 (X800H) will also be available in sizes up to 85 inches. Both are come with Google's Android TV platform, which offers access to apps and games via the Google Play store. Chromecast is built-in.

The LCD TVs feature 4K resolution and are either edge or direct lit depending on the size class.

The TVs also feature Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit. AirPlay 2 lets you push video, music or photos from an iOS or macOS device wirelessly onto the TV. HomeKit is Apple's platform for the connected home that allows you to control certain aspects of the TV via an iPhone or through Siri voice commands. The Apple TV app will be available for select Sony TVs later this year.
